Hello Michelle and Les,I will probably be in Cusco in late February to middle March and plan on staying for up to 6 months while working on some botanical projects. How difficult is it to find a reasonable priced apartment in the city and also is reliable internet access readily available for hook up in said apartments? Thanks for any help you might have in these areas.
Sincerely,
Piers

Hi Danielle!I also live in Cusco, also with my Peruvian. I´m from Holland originally, and more recently have been living in the UK. Would love to meet up with you! I´m in Arequipa now and will be back in Cusco in about 2 weeks.
For an answer to Piers´ question, I am selling an apartment in Cusco, don´t hesitate to check out the website at the bottom.
Apart from this apartment, you will find a fair amount for sale throughout the city. Buy a classifieds newspaper called Rueda de Negocios when you get there. Internet can be connected to nearly everywhere I believe, and connections are fairly good.
Any other expats write to me at elisemundo @gmail.com
Ciao,
Elise

Hi, I'm Australian and spent all of July 2008 in Cusco. I absolutely loved the place.
I plan to return at the end of this year to stay longer.Just need to find some decent work and accomodation.
I get the feeling I won't make a great deal of cash as it's all about location.
Does anyone know of any trustworthy websites?,
Cheers,
Charles

To Michelle, Miss Abbott I would just like to correct you in your statement, it is not Peruano but "Peruvian", . Hope you don't misinterpret me. Another thing the word "hook up" isn't pleasant to the eyes, it kinda sounds deceitful (if you know what I mean).
To Doris
I think you should know the artisan guy first. How many times have you dated and known each other? Are you willing to marry a man from cusco? These are just some of the questions that you might consider thinking.
Peruano is Spanish for "Peruvian", so techically Michelle was correct in her usage of the term.

My husband, retired NY law enforcement and I are thinking of relocating permanently to the Cusco area. Will be visiting again in late May 2009. Could someone kindly recomment a good and reliable local english speaking attorney, doctor and dentist and their email addresses so that we could set up appointments prior to arrival? Thanks much.

Doris - I agree with Jena. Peru and Cusco are wonderful places with wonderful people, but you should REALLY get to know your man well first. Meet all his family, all his friends, go to where he works, hangs out, etc. Make sure he likes YOU, not the opportunities you represent. Sorry to sound negative, but I know so many girls whose exotic boyfriend had (secret) wives, children and bad intentions popping up....
Michelle and Les, what do you say?
Comment #15 Guillermo Mora (63.176.159.239) -
Hi! Thought you might want to take a look at this web site intended to join expats in Cusco. Good luck. Cheers!
Well, they say that you do not have to whine about a particular usage of a word that does not augur well with you. The point is, you have understood what the person is trying to put across or what do you say Jena.Finding expats of whatever kind should not at all be hard depending on how well you can utilize your interpersonal and communication skills. Have you searched online?

Walk around town and most likely, you will stumble upon a person or two with an Australian accent. Put your PR skills to the fore and anything will unfold very simply. I guess help already came your way in the name of an expat soon moving, or one that has already moved there. Look at this online blogs that will most likely have word from an Australian expat in Peru.

Hi! I am also planning to vist Cuzco and Machu Picchu early next year. I get very excited at seeing forums like this where people are planning to get together and would like to participate. I enjoy people and imagine that in a new environment it is a good idea to get to know the culture with some guidance from others. Well, anyway, I will be in touch. There are some emails that i will be contacting in the near future.Best wishes to all! Merry christmas...

The best way for one to meet an expat would probably be via social media networking. Thing like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace were specifically designed for such a purpose.
Comment #21 Eve (63.176.159.22) - 12/10/09 18:01
I for one can vouch for those that are interested in meeting people when traveling to a foreign country as I have been there for one of two of my social networking friends, in the past, and have shown them what my country is really about.
Comment #22 Stella (63.176.159.153) - 12/17/09 21:27
You will definitely meet lots of new people when you go travel. This is the fun side of traveling. Aside from enjoying the sight and the spots in a certain country you are visiting, you can also meet lots of different people from everywhere. Well, i have to agree that social networking sites gives us the privilege of knowing several people, but nothing compares to meeting people personally. Have a nice day.
Comment #23 Keana (63.176.159.111) - 01/02/10 23:01
In meeting new people of new culture, and in a new land, you must also be prepared and well oriented about the cultures that they have. You might hurt the feelings of your foreign friends. When visiting foreign land you must also be prepared to accept their culture which is taboo for you and norm to them. Eat the food that they would prepare for you or else hurt their feelings.
Comment #24 ALicia (63.176.159.125) - 01/22/10 09:28
You have a point there Keana, I think it is not appropriate if people would act like that, it would be so rude if visitors would reject their food, their local food. If I were to visit a country, I will surely eat their local food, not to mention that I will try them all. I think by doing this I will be able to get to know more about them and the way they live.
