I'm a bilingual, bicultural American citizen living in Lima with my Peruvian family. I worked in MCI World Com's Call Center in Denver, Colorado first as an agent, then as an instructor to incoming Spanish speaking employees in their bilingual center. My responsibilities included training on MCI's computer systems and customer service.I would very much like to apply my experience here in Lima.
Comment #2 Ana McDonel (201.240.232.44) - 11/20/08 14:29
I have customer service and call center experience in the US (Moneygram International, Denver Colorado, main office), and in Peru (Rickenbacker Credit Services, San Borja) this together with my fluency in english an spanish and my eagerness to learn makes me an ideal candidate for this or any other positions you may have available now or inthe near future.I eagerly anticipate speaking to you in person.
Sincerely,
Ana McDonel

Hi! I am told that call centers pay indecent salaries based on people´s poverty and needs. Is this so? I would like to apply but I also want a decent day´s salary. Regards.
Comment #7 Eve (63.176.159.12) - 09/14/09 15:49
Having a bilingual call center staff is the most brilliant thing that one could acquire for their business. This is because many countries are getting familiar with having immigrants whom of which seem to only speak their local language. In some cases they may now be learning the language, but may still need services which they can understand, as they too are going to be paying customers if they get the right service.
Comment #8 Caribeño (63.176.159.91) - 09/23/09 11:52
Sounds like a great opportunity to do something productive in Lima. Usually expats look to language teaching, and that´s a very good option, other areas are serving in hotels as lobby clerks or telephone operators. Now the call centers are surging all over and that also is a good option.Anything to raise a buck is good. Then just start living in Lima with Perú behind it, a huge and beatiful country with a lot to explore.
There´s a lot to do!

Native English speaking North American interested in working with you. Living in surco.
Comment #10 Rudolf (63.176.159.205) - 10/24/09 00:13
Not that they are paid unreasonably, its just that they are paid off according to the country's regular pay, but as you can observe in some countries, they even pay those call center agents more, it is part of the booming outsourcing strategy by large companies worldwide. But well, you might want to learn more about call centers and how are they paid, just try your luck searching the net for answers.
Comment #11 Megan (63.176.159.240) - 11/06/09 14:02
What is the average salary for working in a call center in Peru? Are there any special requirement to get a job like this?
How many hours per week will generally work in this type of work?
Comment #12 Sally (63.176.159.224) - 11/16/09 03:24
Call centers are famous for hiring people and then not paying a decent salary. Are there so many bilingual people around that they can be mistreated like that?Lima is a great place and I imagine that it is possible to find a well paying job there.
Try teaching English, even though, I hear things about that too. Berlitz does not seem to pay very well.
But there must be some around that have a different philosophy.
Comment #13 Eve (63.176.159.18) - 11/30/09 10:05
I did not know that cll centers did not really pay the salary that people would expect from them. This is coming as news to me, but I am certain, as we all are, that if one really is being treated unfairly concerning dividends and what not, they have the option to leave.
Comment #14 Eve (63.176.159.193) - 12/04/09 22:09
At least, other than this, one should more or less have a general idea of what they need to be doing, most definitely.
Comment #15 Genie (63.176.159.119) - 12/12/09 20:51
As far as I know, call centers pay not much but still it is quite enough for those countries who are patronizing outsourcing jobs. i think those company's should try outsourcing in some Asian countries like India and Philippines. I just read from a local newspaper that outsourcing on those countries is a boom.
Comment #16 Gino (63.176.159.216) - 12/23/09 20:26
I have to agree on that Genie, outsourcing on developing countries indeed is a boom. Like in the Philippines, getting call center job can sustain your family with all of their needs. That is why people really want to be employed on call centers. But during this days, the competition is getting harder and harder. But anyway, there is a huge competition in all field of works, right? Good luck and have a nice day to all.
Comment #17 adam (63.176.159.187) - 12/28/09 10:18
It's a boom, but at a terrible price to the worker.
Comment #18 eve (63.176.159.204) - 01/14/10 22:53
Outsourcing seems harmless, but this kind of thing is what makes one part of the world powerful and the other part weak. It is not hard to see these things, so why do people not just unite against it?
Comment #19 Ellen from Miami, Florida - 01/15/10 06:23
"Who is weakened?"
Outsourcing enriches the countries that get the business. It also gives the countries that outsource their world the opportunity to move their workers into higher skilled, more creative jobs.So the whole world moves head. But it doesn't balance things out.
Comment #20 Nami (63.176.159.63) - 02/08/10 21:16
I have to agree on that, I also think that outsourcing gives people in some country the chance to give out their skills and be employed. To think that there is a huge unemployment rate in some countries, particularly in developing ones, outsourcing gives those unemployed to still earn money and I must say, good sum of money. God Bless those who outsource. Have a good day ahead everyone. Keep safe!
