When comming to the capital of Peru (Lima), you will find that the most affordable and nice district to stay is Miraflores. It is by the Pacific ocean, so you will be able to go to the beach at a walking distance. You can also surf the waves since it is a surfing beach as well as a windurfing (by the reefs). In Miraflores are located the main hotels, travel agencies and airlines offices.
But, if you want to save money, you better search for a vacation rental. For example, you can find a charming 2 bedrooms self catering apartment in a residential building, fully furnished and equiped for only US$300 a week or a cozy one bedroom, for only US$180 a week. You just have to search in your browser for charmingapt.allday.at/ or mirafloresapt.allday.at/

Please, do not be confused by the comment N°1 of Julia Torres, my message was about other properties, not those, ok?Thank you

Beware that Julia Torres is the same person who runs innperu.com; however she talks about herself as "they". So, it's and ad, not a recommendation.I liked the innperu.com website, pics, etc. The people who didn't like them, could you please elaborate?
Thank you.
HB.

Where to stay in Lima Peru????All a bit Seedy!
WWW.INNPERU.COM ran by very seedy man MARC STANLEY uses Julia Torres to front the business..... but left wife in the UK to support his 2 sons for the last 2 years ...working long hours to give them them a life...whilst Marc makes very good money out of appartments and 'pimping cars' alongside anything else he thinks the americans will spend their $ on...but not bothering with his boys for last 2 years..now 10 and 13..but really hap0py everyone in Peru thinks he's cool and spend money with him...not bitter and twisted just believe a man has a responsibili8ty for his children-rich or poor-that means being them for them not following his own dreams, might not be easy but that is what's real....Hope u agree!

Miraflores is a wonderful area in Lima to stay... it is always difficult to rent a place sight unseen. You best bet may be to book a hotel for a couple days and then personally check out the rentals before you make a commitment.

Hey, people. Could you please clarify what's wrong with the apartments/management at www.innperu.com? Do they rip you off or what? And if so, how? I am considering a rental, but first wanted to know why it is so bad. Thanks a lot.
With just one bad comment about a place, you really start second guessing yourself about visiting there. But two bad comments, and you're vacation may never come to fruition.
@Jim -- that's a good advise Jim. Thanks.Since no one elaborated on their bad experiences with innperu.com, when would be the best time to visit this country?
It is said that Lima isn't cheap unless you are going to live like a Peruvian. It might be that whatever is being said about the vacation rentals is true. That could be a bit misleading especially when the circumstances have not been elaborated upon. That is not to say that it should not be part of the consideration when planning to move to Peru. The bad comments might discourage travelers, I agree.
Living next to the Pacific Ocean will be a welcome idea for anyone, whether into the whole practice of walking along the beach or trying out beach sports.Living in a hotel would be an expensive venture so cheap is the way to go. In few circumstances though, you might have to go the expensive way especially if that comes with amazing offers.
What other districts are affordable?

"Innperu Apartments"
I've using innperu service everytime that i've came to Peru, because is a good option and they have a nice variety of big and small apartments in the main center of Miraflores with security, total privacy, wifi internet, cable tv, some apartments have telephone, etc. The best thing that you can do is check their website: www.innperu.com, select your apartment, make your deal, and you're done! thats the way i do and i've never have any problems. Thanks

"InnPeru - Excellent Service"
I have read the various negative comments and bad reports about InnPeru services, all submitted without merits or justifications. I am a frequent traveller to Peru and ever since I found InnPeru's apartment rental site (after being left stranded at the front door of some "charming apt" which I pre-booked prior to my trip), it has made my life easy whenever I travel there. Marc Stanley and Julia have both been very accommodating in arranging everything to suit my convenience, even to the extent of safekeeping my belongings whenever I travel to the provinces in-between stays. It is also true that not every apartment can meet the individual's expectation. But when factoring in all aspects of the location, convenience, degrees of flexibility in arrival / departure dates etc, then any shortcomings in the perceived quality of the apartment is secondary consideration. I am returning to Peru again in December 2009 for two months and once again, despite the peak season, InnPeru is able to accommodate me on short notice. Peru is a wonderful destination and worthy of multiple visits. Cost of living is cheap and the extensive modern bus transportation network for travels within the country is both cheap and convenient.

"InnPeru Recommendation"
I stayed at InnPeru vacation rental apartments (two different ones) over the course of 17 days/nights in Aug/Sep 2009 and I was extremely happy with the level of service! I had a great internet connection, kitchen, hot water (which can sometimes be hard to come by at other places in Lima!), 24/7 security, great location...not much more you can ask for, especially for the price. Not only this but Marc actually upgraded me to a 3 bedroom 3 bath apartment for no extra charge (it happened to be available) during my stay. I've recommended them to all of my Peruvian & American friends.

"Innperu recommendation"
I have used innperu 3 times for trips to Lima, twice while travelling by myself and once with my parents to come for my wedding and Marc, Julia and Alex have always provided excellent service. Either replying to emails from me while in the USA or personal service while in Lima, I can not complain at all. For my wedding, a friend of mine that came down also and was very happy with his apartment as well. The website does accurately portray the apartments so you know what to expect and the prices are better than hotels in the surrounding districts.
