I am looking to buy a home in Miraflores/Lima Peru. A 1 bedroom Condo or apartment would be fine. I am an American and need to know of any pitfalls that I might need to look out for. What rights and protections do I have.
Thank you,
David

I'm thinking about purchasing a three bedroom property in Miraflores. I have two children and I think some of the properties in the link above are perfect for my family. I recommend Miraflores to anyone who wants to move or visit somewhere that is beautiful and peaceful.

My best advice would be that you first go to Peru and look for real estate agents before making that big leap. Even if you look at a house online and feel satisfactory about its condition, make sure you go and see the property first.David, have you gone to Peru before and as a result liked the place?

The decision to buy a home is a noble one..you will avoid all the struggle that comes with the building process. The pit falls to look out for are conmen in the industry that may either undervalue or overvalue the property.A bit of caution is also necessary when approaching the sellers. Sighting property might be the best option because you ahve the surety that it is actually being sold.

Just look for a real estate classifieds and everything else will flow. Pit falls might and will be many and all this will depend on how early you can see these and be able to avoid them.It is not a guarantee that a particular style will work for you and other people. It is about exercising caution in whatever method you choose.

Dear friends, after ten years I move back to Switzerland with my family. That is why we are selling the property we just finished constructing in Sol de La Molina, where the climate is much better than in any other place in Lima. It is no centric like Miraflores but an excellent living area if one works close to La Molina, like the US embassy. I put the property in the Internet, so please let me know if you are interested, so I send you the link.
In any case, be very careful when buying here! Best wishes Thomas

Buying outstanding property over in Peru is surely going to take some real estate combing. Be sure to look for only the best in such a glorious looking country as this one.

Still, the best is surely going to be found as something, which is very much hard to find.

What is the best anyway? Who ever was it that decided that anything could be considered as best or worst or what so ever.
Comment #14 Mira (63.176.159.67) - 01/27/10 21:07
Hmmmm... I never thought of that till now adam, thanks for that wake up call. However, I am a little hesitant on what you are trying to say. You see, people are entitled on giving opinions and though to some it seems odd and not applicable, it is still their right to express all of their thoughts. Anyway, I just want to make myself clear here. I am not against anyone in anyway.
