For consulting bus schedules of different bus companies in Peru, check www.sabuses.com. It provides online schedules for a number of big Peruvian bus companies

I am not even sure if there are buses or taxis that run where I live. I have not ever seen any buses or taxis. how would I go about looking further inti this to find out if these services are located here.

Roxy, where is it that you are looking to find out if a bus or taxi runs at? Did you try looking in your local phonebook and try calling the transportation companies?
Roxy, I would agree with Vanessa, she has good ideas. I would try doing what she suggested. If that does not work, I am sure there is some short of transportation available.

I feel your pain Roxy. I grew up in an area where there was one bus for the entire county. And taxis? Forget it!

Transportation in Peru is rather informal. There are few schuled bus routes, just mini busses going when they get enough passengers to make it worth their while. As aroung, mainly in the markets and places where people gather. Good luck!

I would also check with the Police departments and also find out which are the safest modes of transport. Transport systems are supposed to be organized and if you find it hard finding bus schedules in your area, that could be a pointer that things might not be good.Still, there is no harm in checking out what bus consulting services have to offer. You will have to choose which way to go when you have the info.
Breen, there is the optional web link box. See how easy it makes things?

Martijn, why not provie a link the website in question? Peru has been said to be a poor country yet the bus services there are reputable for safety, punctuality and amenities but that will vary from one company to the other. The main tourist areas connect well to Lima. It would be best to find out more on bus transport in Peru through a local. This website however looks at it from the point of view of outsiders who have been to the place.
